![]() I've heard many horror stories about phones getting lost and then they still charge you, and other issue. You can buy more data if you go over though (LOL.adding data to an "unlimited" plan).įinally: DO NOT buy a phone from any of these companies. I probably could go to the 15GB plan and be fine, but I've come close to 15GB a few months, and it doesn't cost that much extra for "unlimited" so I just pay for peace of mind. At this point for international data I just get a e-Sim for data only when I'm out of the country (usually 2 trips to Canada, 3 weeks total). I'm still with Mint, and don't plan on leaving. I can deal with it since it's a lot cheaper than the options that would work in big crowds. 99% of the time this isn't an issue, but if you're at a sporting event, concert, etc (where there are many people), don't count on any working that great. Obviously Fi is great if you travel internationally more than a few times a year (since it just works in other countries with no additional charge for data).Īll 3 had less than great customer service (although I haven't really had to engage Mint, but it sounds like you get what you pay for).Īll 3 deprioritize data. Mint is probably the worst, but it's not by much. Just know that it will be a challenge to find worse customer support than theirs.įor "value MVNO" service I've used: Straight Talk, Fi, and Mint.Īll were the about the same for coverage in the US. They will say literally anything just to get you off the phone, because they know you'll probably get routed to someone else when you call back. I believe you can get a refund within 7 days, or something like that, but you'd have to call support for that and. That's the same for all pre-paid cell service providers, though. Since it's pre-paid there aren't any refunds if you buy a year and have to change providers for some reason after a month. Reception is exactly what you get from T-Mobile, and the speed has been good for me (85 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up right now on 5G in a busy park with a lot of people - 4G was a lot slower but certainly usable). ![]() ![]() I'm not grandfathered in to their pricing, either, since there aren't any contracts. My data went from 10 GB a month to 12 GB, and then to 15 GB, all without a price increase. I've been with Mint for over three years on the same plan. ![]()
